Through the material assemblies project a detailed section drawing of a single storey family residential building at a scale of 1:5 was produced. The drawing consists of an RC35 grade concrete raft footing foundation showing key aspects such as reinforcements, drainage and waterproofing. This foundation supports a brick veneer, wood-framed wall with a plasterboard interior finish showing key aspects such as insulation, structural framing, and finishes. The section also includes a double-glazed, awning window. The final aspect of this drawing is to include a roof consisting of clay tiles on wooden trusses with a plasterboard ceiling. This building was constructed out of materials with the intention of finding a happy median between minimizing costs while also ensuring adequate structural, ecological and thermal performance. This building is intended to be built for a typical inner city Melbourne suburb and factors such as cost, weather and function were all accounted for to create this drawing.
