Building H Rethink
WHEN LOOKING AT THE MONASH CAULFIELD CAMPUS AND BUILDING H, THERE WAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO IMPROVE THE BUILDINGS’ OVERALL COMFORT AND PERFORMANCE WHILE ALSO IMPROVING ITS ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE. A WHOLISTIC APPROACH WAS INCORPORATED IN AN ATTEMPT TO ADDRESS THE ABOVE ISSUES WHICH CREATED A PROPOSAL FOR THE REDESIGN OF BUILDING H. 3 MAJOR ASPECTS WERE FOCUSED ON. THE FIRST BEING THE BUILDING ENVELOPE SEEN IN A CUSTOMISED FACADE EXTERIOR THAT ADDRESSES EACH FACADE OF THE BUILDING INDIVIDUALLY WHILE ALSO ALLOWING FOR AN AESTHETICALLY APPEALING UNIFORM ECO SKIN FOR THE BUILDING. THE SECOND BEING AN ATRIUM THAT TRAVELS THROUGH THE CENTRAL CORE OF THE BUILDING. THE FINAL ASPECT OF THIS RETHINK IS THE INCORPORATION OF A GREEN ROOF AND SITE-SPECIFIC ECO FEATURES. THE INCORPORATION OF THESES ASPECTS ALLOW FOR A WHOLISTIC RETHINK OF BUILDING H THAT OPTIMISES HUMAN COMFORT, THERMAL PERFORMANCE, AESTHETIC APPEAL AND ECO-FRIENDLY FEATURES.
