As part of the Revitalising Informal Settlements and their Environments (RISE) program, I was able to travel to Makassar, Indonesia to undertake a series of field work and research that ultimately lead to a series of diagrams looking at analyzing localized networks of “informality”.

I worked in a group and observed aspects of co-operation in five different sites across Makassar; the waterfront, a street, a local market and two informal settlements. This resulted in a set of 30 squares at multiple scales illustrating a narrative of co-operation observed.

The aim of this project was to observe and identify informal networks of co-operation that link different sites observed which then starts to paint a picture of co-operation within Makassar.
