High House is an alterations and additions project focused on maximizing the existing upper-level views of Canberra. The project retained the existing external building envelope and made a significant architectural gesture by re-planning the majority of the upper level into a singular, open plan living, dining, and entertainment zone. This design not only enhances the views from the upper-level balcony but also establishes a convenient connection to the rear pool and outdoor living area, located on an existing raised rear terrace.
The previous stair location was a barrier to circulation and hindered an open-plan living concept. Therefore, it was moved and relocated next to the main entry, facilitating easy circulation between levels and unlocking new planning potentials and possibilities for the rest of the house.
